Fill Select
Brett Johnson comforts his daughter Nancy at Stephens Park on Sunday, November 8th. Nancy was in the process of shoveling out a hole in the sandbox when she decided to take a break to wipe her face. When she raised her hand with the shovel up to her face, some of the sand made its way into her eyes.

Color Correction
The image on the bottom was my original photo that was taken in RAW with the green-filtered strobe. The top image is once it had been color corrected. I'm not sure if I did enough toning to get out most of the green, there is still hints of it in her jacket. My main goal was trying to get her skin to look as normal as possible, as well as the wall in the background.

Single Flash Take 2
This was one of my favorite pictures from my second take with single flash. I ended up bouncing the flash off the ceiling and it worked much better than all my previous attempts.
Kati Kempf smiles at her “little sister” Tamuronyia Walker as they carve a pumpkin that they named Sam. Kati became a “big sister” nearly a month ago and was matched up with Tamuronyia. Every week they spend about two hours together, and this week they decided on getting into the Halloween spirit.
Single Flash Take 1
This is my first try for single flash. I was not really happy with anything that came out of it and had a lot of problems with it. This was one of the more decent images using a direct flash.
Larisa and Ben Rudelson get their dancing stance together on the dance floor at Studio B on October 16. Every Friday night, Studio B opens its doors for dance-lovers for two hours to just let loose. According to other dancers, Ben can take anyone with no dance experience, including his wife, and teach them how to be as graceful as he is on the dance floor.

Lighting Glass
An unopened bottle of Jose Cuervo that I got for my 21st birthday this summer stands next to an empty daiquiri glass. The tequila was actually part of a two-piece gift from Caitlyn Emmett and her boyfriend. The other half to the gift was a bottle of wine that you mix with the Jose Cuervo to make wine-a-ritas. I’m hoping that the next time I pair these two together I will finally be able to break open the bottle and fill that glass up.

Classmate Portrait-Multiple Lights
This is my favorite picture of Caitlyn that was taken with multiple lights. I loved her facial expression and that it was kind of caught in the moment. Technically, I had one light that was illuminating the background, but it did not have a gel on it, it was just aimed at the gray. I also had two lights on either side of her with a gold reflector toward the left-back of her to try to highlight her hair. You can see the reflection of the soft-box in her eyes, but I lowered the ratios on one side to soften her skin so it didn't appear too bright and so that it wasn't completely obvious to see where the lights were.
Classmate Portrait-1 Light
This is the picture of Caitlyn with only one studio light, with a gold reflector on the opposite side to illuminate her hair. There is a slight shadow on her nose and on the left side of her face, as well as on the left side of her body, but I don't think that any of them are too distracting. It is by no means a perfect picture, but I like her expression and the way the dark background contrasts with her and the yellow of the flowers.

Character Portrait
This is Annie Leibovitz's photograph of the Queen of England that some call the "Munster Queen." I think I like this so much because of the way the lighting and her facial expression work together. Apparently it was stormy weather when this way taken, and the overcast skies add a dark scene to an already very stern expression from the Queen. Ever since I saw the movie "The Queen" I can't help but think of the queen as this controlling and unaffectionate woman (whether or not she really is), but I think that this shows her in that character.

Copy Test Images
This is an ad from the September 2009 issue of Lucky that I used to do a copy test. I am not sure who the photographer of this picture is, but this replication was purely for education purposes.
This second image was also a copy test and was copied from the September 2009 issue of National Geographic, the photograher is Pascal Maitre.
